SMS Opt-In: How Consent Is Collected
Where numbers come from
Homie sends event-related texts to event guests — people an artist’s tour or venue staff put on the guest list for a specific show. For this guest-list program, numbers are never purchased, imported from third parties, or collected from public web forms. (Homie’s separate merch order-texts program uses its own number and collects consent on the checkout page itself.) The flow is:
- A guest gives their phone number to the artist’s tour or venue staff to be added to the guest list for a specific event, and agrees to receive texts about it.
- Touring crew add the guest in the Homie app. The app requires confirming the guest’s consent before any message can be sent — the consent confirmation below is part of adding a guest.
- The guest receives only messages about that event (or that artist’s events they are attending), such as a guest-list confirmation, entry instructions, and show-day updates.
Texts are optional — never a requirement. Agreeing to messages is not a condition of being added to the guest list, buying anything, or attending the event. Guests who decline texts are still added to the list and receive full service, and opting out later (replying STOP) does not remove a guest from the guest list.
What the guest is asked
Consent starts with a direct, explicit question to the guest. When a guest is being added to the list, the touring crew ask for agreement in words to this effect:
The consent confirmation
Only if the guest agrees is their number entered. This is the consent language captured in the Homie app at the moment a guest’s number is added:
Consent applies only to that event or tour, is never a condition of purchase, guest-list entry, or attendance, and can be withdrawn at any time by replying STOP.
Sample messages
The first text a guest receives is the enrollment confirmation — it confirms their guest-list spot and repeats the frequency, rates, and opt-out instructions:
